Sculpted by Francis Leggatt Chantrey 1781-1841.
A remarkable sculpture considered, rightly, to be one of Chantry's finest.
Chantry is said to have viewed the monument to Penelope Boothby by Thomas Banks in St Oswald's, Ashbourne, which is similar in subject and quality.
Somewhat reminiscent of Edward Onslow-Ford's Snowdrift.
Sculpted by Richard Westmacott II 1775-1856.
